Historic Luleå

Modern Cultural Luleå
The modern Culture of Luleå can be explored through visits to Kulturens Hus (the city’s house of culture), Norrbotten’s theatre, Norrbotten’s Museum (founded in 1886) and a range of fine art galleries dotted through out the city. Aside from the great shopping in the centre of the city we can also show you a range of handicraft outlets and other shopping venues around the city.

Industrial Luleå
Life in Luleå has always been supported by its industrial icons and we can show and explain the importance of our steal mill in processing the raw materials from the mines further to the north, the huge ice breakers that keep our ports open through the cold ice bound northern winter, and a range of other interesting options.

If the family needs entertainment we can offer a wide range of activities that kids also will love, for example. Leo's Lekland, a giant indoor playground, and the fully interactive Technology House, a museum with exhibits and activities aimed at children and teenagers.

Sport
Lulea Hockey was founded in June 1977, and was called during the first two seasons Groko. Seven years later, on 4 March 1984, took the big step when one Norrbotten team for the first time reached the top division. The eighties was characterized mainly by the then big signings Lasse Lindgren and LG Pettersson, with the playoffs most seasons. The beginning of the nineties meant success in the regular season and the known profiles Jarmo Myllys, Mattias Ohlund and Tomas Holmstrom. Finally a long-awaited national championships season 95/96. Luleå is still in the top Swedish division and is a regular finals participant.
